Your support will help to secure a future for an independent cinema in Aberdeen.
For decades, the Belmont Cinema held a special place in the hearts of the people of Aberdeen. It created a sense of belonging and captivated audiences through showing a wide range of films.
Since the 6th October 2022, the cinema has sat empty.
It is missed.
"The Belmont is filled with the happiest memories. Its an invaluable asset to our community and its the right decision to enable it to continue.”
"The Belmont was a place where real magic occurred - a coming together of film lovers, of community, to share something special."

A thoughtful refurbishment will create a venue that offers an outstanding customer experience. A not-for profit, community led cinema that is welcoming, comfortable and accessible.
A diverse film programme, curated with the Aberdeen audience in mind, that showcases the best that cinema has to offer, including films not available anywhere else in the city.
A reimagined café bar will provide a versatile social space for everyone.
Filmmaking and training will create new educational opportunities and career pathways. Delivered by award-winning community development organisation, shmu, education programmes will nurture and develop the next generation of filmmakers.
The Belmont will a place that welcomes, supports, celebrates and collaborates with communities across the North East.
Refurbishment is necessary. A lack of care and investment in recent years means that the venue is no longer fit-for-purpose.
Vital improvement will make the Belmont more welcoming, comfortable, accessible, sustainable, energy-efficient, and secure its long-term viability.
Your donation will contribute directly to the essential costs of improvement.
Refurbishments include:
The improvement of all social spaces, increasing accessibility, versatility, space and light.
Replacement of all cinema seats, providing the most comfortable experience for all cinemagoers.
A state-of-the-art education suite, supporting the best learning experience.
An upgraded heating and ventilation system, providing good air quality throughout the venue and setting the building on the path towards net zero.
The very best audio and laser projection technology, offering a quality big screen experience.
We have the support of Aberdeen City Council, UK Government, Creative Scotland and Screen Scotland and have secured funding from a variety of sources for some of the improvement work.
Your support is now crucial to help create the very best cinema experience possible within the heart of Aberdeen.
