We're still collecting donations
On the 25th June 2020 we'd raised £4,700 with 97 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Just adding them to the original project, there is lot on need!
Giving breath to the indigenous people is taking care of the world biggest lung: the Amazon forest.
I am Valentina Stilo, missionary of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity. I live in Southampton, UK, but our community is spread around the world. This project aims to support the work of Maria Eugenia Lloris Aguado, missionary in the Amazon who, with her teammates, is doing her best to advocate for the indigenous people and find funding to provide basic supplies for the protection against Covid-19.
WHAT WE DO IN THE AMAZON
Maria Eugenia is a Spanish missionary from the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity. She works in the Amazon triple border between Brazil, Peru and Bolivia helping the indigenous people of the Machineri and Yaminagua tribes. The team she is part of (the Itinerant Team), an inter-congregational group of missionaries from different religious communities, is present in another area where they support the indigenous group of the Santare-mawe (Lower Amazon) and of the Warao (Manaos), who lack food, hygiene items and supplies for the prevention fo COvid-19.
Before the Covid-19 outbreak, Maria Eugenia travelled with the Itinerant Team to Iquito (Peruvian Amazon) where she is now, trying to respond to a very challenging reality. The Covid-19 threat is one more among the ongoing dengue fever and the malaria epidemics.
Eugenia and the other missionaries are working hard: to mediate with the local government, trying to put pressure whenever the government omits the needed help; to fund raise; to collect and distribute the donations.
As a friend, religious sister and woman, I cannot stay silent, I feel the call to help rising awareness about this reality and do my best to support our brothers and sisters in need, providing funding to buy hygiene items and supplies for the prevention of Covid-19.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1. Being aware of what is happening in the Amazon and in the poorest areas of our planet as a consequence of the Covid-19 crisis.
2. Raising awareness about the situation of the Amazon and the indigenous people.
3. Helping with a DONATION to provide MEDICINES, HYGIENE material and SUPPLIES for the PREVENTION of Covid-19.
What is little for us can be a lot for them.
Thank you
