Thank you Empower!

Aim: I’m raising money to help other women have the same access I had to this empowering service.

Like many women, Empower helped me get my life back in so many ways. I was diagnosed with SPD at week 14 of pregnancy. I was on crutches, couldn’t weight bare without them and the pain was debilitating. Four years later I was still being failed by the NHS, couldn’t walk up stairs, couldn’t bend, couldn’t lift my 4 year old child and I was struggling in my job. I was taking opiates daily, my pelvis and lower spine were twisted and I was in such daily pain and anguish that I had contemplated not wanting to be here any more. That’s the day I met Sher from Empower. She just walked up to me and asked what was wrong with me because I looked like I was in agony. I told her everything and she understood! She gave me a link to Empowers business page and said she could help me. I went home and cried because for the first time in years I had hope. I attended Empowers pelvic rehab course twice, I made friends, I told my story. I was so emotional one day that Sarah just walked around the block with me for as long as I needed. They put me in touch with a physiotherapist they work with called Jen who specialises in women’s health. Jen has magic hands, a wealth of knowledge and a huge heart. I’m now proud to call Jen my friend.  Empower accepted me on to an intense women’s self defence course which boosted my confidence and pushed me further out of my comfort zone. They did all of this free of charge because I wasn’t able to work enough to pay for it. So this is my way of giving back, so other women in my position can benefit from these amazing, knowledgeable and empowering women; my friends…sher, Jen, Rachel and Sarah.
