The vision began with a concern: future generations, disconnected from the natural beauty of Tewkesbury's rivers and lakes. We saw an opportunity to bridge that gap, to introduce young people to the rewarding world of angling, and cultivate a deep respect for our waterways. This is the seed from which Tewkesbury Junior Anglers (TJA) will grow.
We're planning to build a community where young people, aged 5-16, will learn not just the skills of fishing, but the importance of conservation. Our "Get Fishing" events will be the first step, opening doors to a world many haven't experienced.
We’ll teach knot tying and tackle preparation in indoor classrooms, then explore riverbanks and lakeside habitats as outdoor classrooms, learning about fish biology and ecosystems firsthand. We'll organise clean-ups as practical lessons in environmental responsibility. We'll work with the Angling Trust and local partners to provide structured learning and opportunities for growth.
TJA will be more than a club; it will be a launchpad for future anglers and environmental stewards. We aspire to create a legacy of respect for our rivers and lakes, ensuring they thrive for generations to come. This is the story we are about to write, together.
