Who Are We?
We (Julie and Vanessa) are both Terrington residents and members of the Terrington Village Hall Committee. We share a passion for community, fun and enabling children to play outside! With the help of the committee, we’ve taken the playground project by the monkey bars and have been researching equipment, talking to local young residents about their playground hopes and dreams, and have a plan in place to bring Terrington’s playground up to a fully functional, playtastic standard. The task is big, but it’s exciting and we cannot wait to see children playing in a fun, safe, revitalised playground!
Julie is also an absolute star by taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon on Sunday April 27th to help raise money and get the funds off to a racing start! Please show your appreciation for Julie’s 16 weeks of training, which will total over 336 miles, before she reaches the start line for the 26.2 miles on the day! That’s over 362.2 miles, folks!! You can bet your balance logs Julie will be whizzing over the finish line like a toddler down a slide.
The Challenge
We are excited about our new playground project at Terrington Village Hall. Our current playground is looking a bit tired, and we want to give it a fresh new look that's safe and fun for children of all ages.
What's The Plan?
We are aiming to create a cool space where children from 0 to 16 years can play, climb, slide, and swing. We will have different areas for toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children and tweens, with equipment that's just right for each age group.
Plus, we are adding an adventure trail to keep everyone active and plan to have growing areas for flowers and vegetables.
We want to enhance the overall experience and accessibility of the playground. The renovation will include shaded seating and gathering spots for families and older children to relax and meet, as well as inclusive design elements to accommodate children with various abilities.
Why Now?
The urgency of the project is underscored by the deteriorating condition of the current equipment, which may need to be removed if not addressed.
Budget Details
The total budget for the playground renovation is estimated at £50,000. This includes the cost of new equipment, installation, and landscaping. We plan to fund this project through a combination of community fundraising, grants, and donations.
If you are willing to sponsor a piece of equipment or have close links to a business who may consider sponsoring the project please get in touch.
We are committed to ensuring that every penny is spent wisely to create a playground that will serve our community for years to come.
