The Breathe Well Initiative
The Breathe Well Initiative is a charity dedicated to improving lung health in Sierra Leone. Patients showing symptoms of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) often do not receive proper lung function tests due to a lack of appropriate equipment leaving many undiagnosed. This was evidenced by a small pilot study conducted in 2024, where 200 patients were screened. Shockingly, about 83% of the patients reported respiratory symptoms, but sadly, access to care and affordability remain major challenges. Our charity aims to bridge this gap by establishing a chronic lung disease clinic and collaborating with global health enthusiasts and respiratory physicians to provide training for local healthcare workers. These trained workers will then go on to train others, helping them to identify respiratory symptoms earlier, before it’s too late. They will also learn how to provide preventative care, educate the community through research and shared knowledge, ensuring long-term sustainability. This initiative will not only improve lung healthcare outcomes but also create jobs for local healthcare workers, transforming them and enabling them to support their own families. With your support, we can equip the facility with the necessary infrastructure to provide life-saving care, giving more families the chance to lead healthier lives. Every contribution, big or small, helps us bring lasting change where it’s needed most. Together, we can make a difference — one breath at a time.

Help Us Build a Lifeline: A Clinic for Lung Health in Bo Town, Sierra Leone.
Our mission is to improve chronic lung health and give many people the chance to breathe easier. Air restriction means life limited and no one should have to bear the burden of lung disease alone.
Many of us know this struggle first-hand. We’ve seen loved ones suffer from COPD and asthma, and that's why we are determined to ensure that families in Sierra Leone don’t have to go through the same pain. This campaign is to support a clinic building in Bo Town—a community so underserved that it currently lacks any facility for diagnosing or treating respiratory diseases.
A Foundation of Hope: Buy a Brick, Build a Future.
We need your help to open this clinic as soon as possible.
For just 57p, you can buy a brick to help build a clinic that will change lives. Every brick brings us closer to providing families in Sierra Leone with access to early diagnosis, preventative care, and education about lung health.
This clinic will be more than just a building—it will be a lifeline offering:
✅ Early diagnosis of COPD using spirometry and peak flow meters for asthma.
✅ Education and prevention programmes to reduce the risk of lung disease.
✅ Training for local Community Health Workers, creating jobs and boosting financial stability, which will strengthen the community.
Will You Join Us?
Our initial target is to raise £30,000 in April. Your brick—just 57p—can help us build a future where lung health is a right, not a privilege.
Together, we can create a healthier, brighter future—brick by brick.
Thank you for your support!
