Since launching in October 2019, The Black Economists Network (TBEN) has gone from strength to strength in our mission to connect, support, and inspire Black economists whilst challenging the field's lack of diversity.
In the past year, our network has grown exponentially with over 500+ members from across the globe and thousands of new followers across all our social media platforms. For our members, we’ve hosted events, launched a book club and continued to provide a platform for Black economists to flourish. We have also launched a podcast to share perspectives from Black economists on a range of issues. In addition to this, we have also proudly worked with several organisations to increase representation across the profession. We delivered an extensive programme of events and workshops including Black History Month 2020, our Black Women in Economics Panel event for Women’s month 2021, we launched the inaugural Black Heritage Insight Scheme with Frontier Economics and hosted a series of international PhD insight workshops.
We wouldn't have been able to achieve this without our members, committee, and the support of our wider support network.
As TBEN moves into a new phase of delivering its important mission, we are reaching out for your support in our next round of fundraising. This will allow us to continue our growth and widen our impact. We are relying on you to help us in raising £5,000 to go towards our operating and programme costs.
This would go some way in helping us to cover:
- A paid part-time admin assistant
- Our website operating costs
- Costs of maintaining our G-suite account, through which we manage mailboxes; our Zoom account, so we can continue to host webinars and meetings; and our mail chimp account, so we can continue to send newsletters in order for us to continue reaching our goals to connect, inspire, educate and influence.
- Digital and in-person events to help us reach our educate and inspire aims.
- Resourcing our training programmes, interview guidance, and CV workshops for our members to help us reach our education aim.
For more information about TBEN and the work we do, please see our website: tben.co.uk
Please do consider donating and if not, please share the fundraiser.
We really appreciate your support in our journey - without it , TBEN would not be where it is today.
