The Cause - Make 2nds Count, registered Charity Number SC048268.
I will be shaving my head on 16th April to raise funds and awareness for the cancer charity, Make 2nds Count (M2C).
I‘ve chosen this charity because it means a lot to me! On the 16th April 2024, it will be my 10 year anniversary since my breast cancer diagnosis. I underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the remainder of 2014, thankfully I remain in remission, sadly though that is not the story that many people with a breast cancer experience.
I lost my mum on 5th June 2023 to secondary breast cancer, the diagnosis for her was a shock and more so the fact she died within 8 months with the cancer having spread to her spine and brain.
When I received my Primary Breast Cancer diagnosis a work colleague (who at the time I didn’t know) reached out to me, offering support and guidance as she had just finished her treatment cycle for breast cancer, we remain friends to this day.
Unfortunately for Cheryl, her cancer returned as secondary breast cancer for which there is no cure, no surgery options and the only treatment available is palliative.
Please help me raise much needed funds for this charity that aims to offer support to people living with the terminal diagnosis of Secondary Breast Cancer, there is currently a 20% 5 year survival rate.
M2C mission is to:
- Fund secondary breast cancer research which contributes to advancing an increased quality of life
- Help patients by informing, sharing and offering practical advice and support
- Raise awareness of secondary breast cancer through effective marketing and education programs across the UK
So as a thank you to sponsors who are supporting me in shaving my head, and supporting thousands of people living with secondary breast cancer, this amazing prize can be yours!
