Our aims are to alleviate poverty through the provision of food parcels to those in crisis. We work in partnership with local agencies who refer clients to us. Additionally. we aim to signpost clients, where appropriate, to reduce their need to use Foodbanks.
Tameside East Foodbank has now been in operation since December 2012. Since then we have fed 49,075 people (including 18,341 children) .
As a result of the cost-of-living crisis the level of demand for our services has increased and donations from the public have decreased. In the first 6 months of 2023 we fed a total of 3687 people. This was 70% higher than the first 6 months of 2022. Food donations in the first half of 2023 were almost 20% lower than the corresponding perod in 2022.
