More about this film

Her whole life Cassie has been haunted by visions of the apocalypse, only to be mocked and disbelieved by everyone around her. In the predicted last moments, she attends an 'end of the world' party hosted by so-called friends, however it is not long before things become more real than we think. This drama-comedy explores working-class struggles, mental health, and the universal message of giving a voice to the voiceless. Loosely inspired by the ‘Cassandra Complex’, a psychological phenomenon in which an individual's accurate prediction of a crisis is ignored or dismissed originating from the story of Cassandra in Greek mythology. Think '2012' meets 'Gavin and Stacey’. I mean come on, picture Nessa and Bryn trying to survive in 'The Day after Tomorrow', it’s funny!! Right?

Why is this film important?

What the writer wanted to achieve with this film is focusing on those voices that are often unheard, a social commentary of how she perceives the world around her. It’s fair to say the world right now is a scary place and seeing it through the eyes of someone like Cassie will hopefully create a conversation about knowing your worth and feeling like there’s a place for anyone who relates to Cassie to have your voice heard.

Of course throwing it into a world where a potential apocalypse might occur and based it in Splott, adds the blend of comedy which rooted throughout the script whilst also honouring the social commentary. When we watch any sort of ‘end of world’ film, it's usually a huge action star as the hero, saving the day as the scientists gives an array of ‘I told you so’ then the government flea to safety like ‘bye gurl, I’m out’. What you rarely get to see is someone like Cassie, a 5'1 Welsh girl, works in hospitality and barely earning enough to get by being the protagonist not only in an apocalyptic style film but any big blockbuster. She probably would of been mowed down by a street sign and then not make it to the final cut.

My goal with this project is to show you a small glimpse of what this film could be because my overall goal for this concept is to one day be a feature length film, as I believe there is so more to be unravelled within this world.

The film is an extremely fun concept, deeply rooted in Welsh culture. Each character offers a universial voice with relatable messages in the most bizzare circumstances. The target audience is everyone, no matter your background, we want this film to reach all walks of life.

How can YOU help?

In layman's terms, MASSIVELY. There are so many layers to this project, making it hugely ambitious and we want to be able to do it justice not just for ourselves but for our audiences watching, who see themselves represented.  Your generous contributions will help hugely towards:

  • Production costs- Covering the costs for the locations and it set designs, props and costumes and the overall expenses of the filming.
  • Post production- The effect of this film is the biggest aspect in making this film cinematic.  We want to make sure we can get the best effects to create this apocalyptic environment then layering that with a great sound design will elevate it's status further.
  • keeping the memento: Of course we want this film to travelto as many homes as we could, reaching a vast audience so we want to be able to keep the 'TALK ABOUT LUCK' hype train running for as long as we can so entering the film to film festivals and the promotion through social media platforms will ensure it will reach a wider audience.

Are you a believer?

We genuinely believe 'TALK ABOUT LUCK' is a film that can gel perfectly with our audiences of today. We aim to offer a fresh, relatable tone through the story, characters and environments. Not only is it fast faced entertainment that will hopefully keep you engrossed from start to finish, those moments of hard drama and relatable messages of how we all perceive the world right now and those around us. I hope it encourages the audience to have conversations the importance of our voice being heard but remembering the power it holds.

With your help, we can truly achieve our ambitious goals of making this film the best we possibly can. So please any support is widely appreciated and from my myself and my crew a huge thank you for taking the time to invest in us!
