Mixed Ability rugby is all about bring the wonderful game of rugby to everyone regardless of their physical/mental abilities Worcester MA Rugby
In June 2025 we are taking a mens and a ladies team to the mixed ability world cup or IMART 2025 in Pampona Spain. IMART 2025
IMART will include over 1200 players from 13 nations. In addition to playing a week of games, there will be other Mixed Ability sports, workshops and cultural and social events, it promises to be quite a spectacle.
The aim of mixed ability is to raise aspirations and participation of players with learning and physical disabilities in community sport across the world. It provides a safe place for people to play rugby regardless of their ability, disability, age, sex, race, creed, or colour!
The Mixed Ability model is particularly powerful because:
- It breaks down barriers between people with and without disabilities
- It adapts to each player's abilities while maintaining the sport's fundamental aspects
- It creates genuine social inclusion through sport
- It challenges perceptions about disability in sports
We play the standard game of rugby but modify it so that it is inclusive as possible. So, you will see full contact and touch going on in a single game. Everyone gets a chance to play at a level that makes them safe and comfortable.
