The cost of living crisis is forcing families to choose between heating and eating.
Food banks can help, but what happens when you can’t afford the energy needed to cook the food?
This is where Table88 comes in.
We are providing disadvantaged people with home cooked meals for free.
It's not set up like a food bank - Table88 will look like any other cafe. We are driven by the belief that in 2023, in the UK - one of the richest countries in the world - no one should go hungry, and there certainly shouldn't be a stigma around those who are struggling to put food on the table. Everyone should be able to walk into a cafe and order a decent meal, and we want to make sure that everyone can.
Not only that, we also want to create a true community hub within the cafe. Elderly people who might only go out once a week for their food shop will be invited in for a hot drink, some cake and a chat. Teenagers, who may have to choose between being in an unstable home or out on the streets, can come inside to do their homework, with a fast internet connection and computer access. All of this will be completely free of charge for those that need it.
People from all different walks of life sometimes need a helping hand, and by supporting our Crowdfunder, you will help us to provide that for them.
