My Story
Born and raised in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, I've always known the challenges the gaming community faces in finding opportunities to come together. As someone with ADHD, gaming was more than just a hobby to me—it was a vital outlet for my energy and a way to focus my mind positively. During my childhood, gaming was often dismissed as merely a pastime, but now, it's recognised as a pathway to becoming an E-Sports competitor, both locally and globally.
With over seven years of experience in the Learning & Development industry, I've developed a deep passion for uniting people. This passion, combined with my love for gaming, inspired me to create an opportunity for others to experience the joy of gaming in a communal setting. My vision is to merge my expertise with our vibrant local community by hosting entertaining day-long E-Sports events right here in Sheffield. I aim to reignite the excitement and passion for gaming that I felt growing up. These events will not only provide entertainment but also serve as a platform for budding gamers to showcase their skills, potentially leading to careers in E-Sports.
In the future, I hope to expand these tournaments to the wider Yorkshire area, increasing our reach and impact. The funds we raise will be directly invested in organising these tournaments. This includes securing venues, obtaining necessary equipment, supporting local small businesses to be part of the events, and ensuring that the events are accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial background. We aim to create a vibrant, inclusive environment where local businesses can connect with the community..
Your support will help transform this vision into reality, offering our community a unique form of engagement and the chance to foster future E-Sports champions from Sheffield and surrounding areas. Through your contributions, we can make Sheffield a landmark city for E-Sports, inspiring not just local gamers but also setting a precedent for other communities across Yorkshire and worldwide.
Swift E-Sports Community Event (Sheffield)
Date: TBC (Targeting the summer holidays)
Imagine this: It's summer, you're looking for an affordable way to have fun. Suddenly, you discover a local event that's free to enter. Picture gaming consoles ready for tournaments with amazing prizes, drinks, and a variety of food vendors from small local businesses. What's not to love?
Community Impact: Securing a large venue will allow us to welcome more attendees and give local small businesses the opportunity to participate. Without this funding, these businesses could face financial hurdles. By supporting them, we help maintain a vibrant and inclusive community, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
Mental Health: Combating isolation is essential. This event will provide a dynamic venue for people to connect, compete, and win prizes, fostering mental well-being through active community engagement.
Funds Usage: All funds raised will be directly allocated to this and future events, with the aim to minimise or eliminate entry fees, making the event accessible to all.
Games: The main attraction will be tournaments for those aged 14 and over. We'll also host additional competitions for under-14s, including a high-score challenge on a classic game, with prizes available across all events.
Entertainment: Depending on the venue’s capacity and permissions, we plan to enhance the day with face painting, game-themed bouncy castles, balloon art, magicians, a live commentator for gaming events, DJs, and more, ensuring entertainment throughout the day.
