The ultimate winter challenge, dangerous and gruelling. 7 mountains, 3 days, 2 nights, in the most hostile climate in the UK.
by Tunbridge Wells Forum in Tunbridge Wells, England, United Kingdom
On the 15th January 2021 we'd raised £590 with 17 supporters in 107 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Why? To save our legendary, local music venues across the UK which have been adversely affected by COVID-19, unable to reopen with social distancing restrictions.
Two brave men, Ollie and Dexter, are enduring the challenge to climb 7 mountains in 3 days, 4 of which are among the highest in the UK, suffering temperatures down to -20 degrees, battling thick fog, winds of up to 60mph, all whilst navigating to safety check points before nightfall. All in order to survive the brutal Cairngorm climate in this ultimate winter challenge.
The Cairngorms is a sub-arctic mountain range in the Scottish Highlands. It’s the coldest place in the UK with a landscape so extreme that it's where the UK Special Forces carry out their arctic training.
Ollie and Dexter are documenting the whole journey from training to finish. Follow and share by searching #survivingthecairngorms and @survivingthecairngorms on Instagram. Footage of the challenge will be publicly released upon completion.
All money raised will be split 50/50 between Music Venue Trust's Red List and The Forum. Find out more about The Forum on their website: www.twforum.co.uk
