My Iggy is having to undergo surgery to repair the damage in her leg. She has a ruptured cruciate ligament and will need to have metal plates put in her leg. This was an accident that happened as she fell into a pond on her walk.
The vets have quoted me £3,580 for the surgery, being a TPLO surgery. They will have to cut the top of her shin bone, rotate it and then use a metal plate to keep it stabilised. Her surgery is on the 12th of November.
I am absolutely devastated from this news and have been given 3 options:
- surgery to fix the damage
- give her up
- put her to sleep
I adopted Iggy from the RSPCA when she was 2 months old at a difficult time in my life. Everyday from that point, she has brought me happiness and kept me grounded in a period of my life where I was struggling. She helped me heal, she helped me grow as a person and ultimately, she is a part of me. It brings me to tears thinking about the last two options and I can’t bring myself to it, she’s my life and I love her with all my heart. She even helped me during my own surgery and recovery - I was diagnosed with endometriosis in May 2024. She sat by my side and her walks helped me with my recovery.
I’m embarrassed that I’m struggling. I work hard and I try my best to do everything on my own and I hate asking for help, never mind accepting it. But, if you can help me, whether that is with donations or sharing this page, please know that I am and will always be eternally grateful 🖤🤍
Thank you, Serena (Iggys mum)
