Hi! On behalf of our wonderful mom we wanted to tell you a little bit about a truly inspiring lady. We’re Yasmine ,22, and Harvey, 19. Our beautiful mom has recently been diagnosed with two different types of aggressive breast cancer which has gone secondary to her lymph nodes as well as possibly to her lungs.
It was a huge shock to our little family to say the least and most definitely unexpected. Due to the severity, in June mom has underwent a double mastectomy with lymph node clearance to attempt to treat what they can. Next mom will have chemotherapy, radiotherapy and anti hormone treatment. More recently we discovered she is carrying the BRCA2 gene which means we are, unfortunately, very susceptible to cancer also, as well as, making the current cancer she has extremely difficult to treat.
Mom is the most amazing woman, being a single parent after surviving an abusive marriage of 14 years. She is also registered disabled as she suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, a neurological condition which is incurable and makes my daily tasks difficult, affecting her balance, eye sight, mobility and causing chronic fatigue, pain and numbness but it doesn’t stop her from always having a smile. We don’t know how she does it!
Despite the trauma and difficulties faced over her life, and there has been many, she’s a fighter, and an extremely strong and inspirational woman. As a little family, we are extremely close as a three, we’ve fought lots of battles together, this one being the toughest yet. We are supporting her in every way we can, caring for her through this difficult time and giving her as much positivity as we can. To offer her the best chance possible we are seeking complementary therapies alongside her treatments, to aid or prolong her life. We want her to have the best fighting chance against this horrific disease and fight this battle with everything we can.
We believe that there are a whole range of treatments which could benefit mom's wellbeing and recovery - e.g. reiki, oxygen therapy, red light therapy, homeopathy, lymph draining - and would love to give her the chance to access these. We don't have the funds for this ourselves, but we believe in the kindness of strangers and would be forever grateful if you could contribute in whatever way to help mom access the treatments which we believe will benefit her journey to healing in every way.
