Introduction and why we need your support:

We are Vox Stars Singing, and Performance Coaching Studio Edinburgh and we have a mission to help singers and performers reach for the stars. In March 2020, our singing studio doors closed, and we left behind an eerie silence. As we adapted to online learning, we had hope in our hearts that the Edinburgh Fringe Festival would keep us singing out to live audience later in the summer of 2020. Alas, we received the devastating news that the Fringe would no longer grace the awesome streets, theatres and pubs of Edinburgh in August. Our dreams to rock out at the royal mile, bring a brilliant busk and shine at our show ‘Vox Stars Presents Star Inspirations’ was wiped away.

Prior to lock down our business was a bustling hive of activity with super singing students, grand group gatherings, wonderful workshops, perfect parties and lovely live shows. No one could have ever prepared for the catastrophic effects COVID would bring to all our lives and to businesses of all shapes and sizes. Woefully workshops halted, parties plans were dashed and many of our sensational singers have had to cut back lesson attendance or press pause for now, when everyone’s finances took a hit. As many other business sectors have now been allowed to open some in person services, singing studio’s and live performance venues up and down the country are still not allowed to resume business at all or anywhere close to a normal manner. This has meant a great reduction in our funds generally as a business and in turn the funds that we put in directly to offer our students wonderful live performance activities such as the Edinburgh Fringe, local tours and showcases. We also work with the students and supporters on our journey to the Fringe to host super fundraising events: live performance tours, busking, karaoke 12-hour sing outs, bake sales, bag packing, raffles, and bingo. In 2020 many of our usual methods of fundraising have been almost impossible due to their social format and therefore not permitted due to the nature of the virus.  This has therefore left a giant reduction in our fundraising capabilities. 

Vox Stars are still working hard to make great opportunities for our singers to develop their craft. We zoomed into action during the pandemic with lively and interactive online voice and performance lessons, created fun and heart-warming fundraising videos for those in food poverty, launched live online showcases for our Vox Stars to sing out from home, have created Facebook live events and more recently our Christmas Vox Stars Fringe fundraiser (linked to this Crowdfunder).  Our love for our Vox Stars singing family and our passion for performance drives us to create unforgettable experiences both for students and audiences alike. Despite our super effort, we can’t raise the funds alone and we need your help to give our students the opportunities to be victorious at the Edinburgh Fringe 2021 and to keep singing live, alive. 

Our Show-Vox Stars Presents Star Inspirations:

At Vox Stars, we have an ethos of inclusivity and embrace singing students of different ages, backgrounds, and styles. When we do a show, we don’t just put on any old performance, we create a powerful and spectacular production. Throughout our show run nights audiences are taken on journey with our singers exploring an eclectic mix of popular music icons. We present the marvellous music of mega bands such as Queen and ABBA to modern icons such as Beyonce to Ed Sheeran. We also embrace the fun side of life with a dive into the magical world of Disney and much more wonderful music from across the decades. This makes our shows super family friendly and appeals to a variety of music fans. The artist’s chosen are the ones who have inspired our local talented vocalists to sing and perform. To give as many style of singers the chance to grace the stage at world’s biggest arts festival our show presents new material and swaps our super soloists each night. We also bring wonderful group medleys and songs working together in harmony and delightful dance to create a colour display. Fringe goers could come to our show each night of the run and have a different live music experience, exploring various amazing icons. 

How your donations will help us:

Your donations big and small will help our singers get one step closer to the experience of a lifetime and make their singing dreams come true. The Fringe as we know it is on a knife edge as many venues and organisational groups may not financially survive until August 2021. By supporting Vox Stars you also create a chain reaction of support to other businesses we work with during the Fringe. We want to keep this cultural gem for Scotland alive for generations of creatives and fans for years to come. When creating a Fringe show there are many mandatory fees and production costs. A donation to Vox Stars will help towards the following costs (and many more): 

-Fringe venue. 

-Fringe registration. 

-Sound Engineer.  

-Busking equipment.  

-Posters, advertising, and programmes.  

-Photographer and videographer.  

-Props, costumes, accessories and make up.

-Licences and insurances. 

-Transport.

-Rehearsal costs.
