Aim: Crowdfunding helps me cover the costs of playing for Hockey Wales Masters, which is all self-funded.
I have played hockey for Wales masters since 2019 and have 34 caps to date, having played in two World Cups, one European Championships and six Four Nations. I was top goal-scorer for Wales men's over 35s in the 2024 World Cup in Cape Town and I am currently vice-captain of the men's over 40s team.
All masters international hockey is self-funded so any donations that people can make go towards the cost of training and playing in two annual tournaments - a Four Nations held across the UK and an alternating European Championships and World Cup with previous locations including Belfast, Rotterdam, Tokyo and Auckland.
Money raised goes towards pitch hire, travel, clothing, equipment, food, accommodation, tournament fees, affiliations, insurances, physios, doctors, umpires, managers and anything else we need.
I give my time during the year to local grass roots sports clubs, coaching, officiating, creating communities of play. This is my primary playing focus each year and helps me to continue my playing career at the highest level for my age group.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
