Newtown Silver Band was established in 1880 and has continuously served the people and community of Newtown and Mid Wales since that date.
We are asking for donations to ensure the future of both the senior band and the training and learner bands at this difficult time.
Before covid-19 the learners band, training band and senior band would rehearse every week and look forward to performing in Newtown and surrounding areas at various community events; carnivals, remembrance day events, concerts, contests, carol playing etc.
Unfortunately, due to covid-19, the band has been unable to perform this year, this has obviously been very disappointing for the band, and has also meant that we have not been able to generate any income through our performances.
We have running costs to meet and also now need to invest in protective equipment to enable us to return to practice safely, hopefully in the new year.
In lieu of a Christmas concert we have recorded the band playing Christmas music and carols (outdoors and socially distanced) and have posted a link to the recording on our website www.newtownsilverband.co.uk and our facebook page.
