  • Help Mustefa Complete His Master’s Degree in Ireland

My name is Mustefa Bamuda. I am from Ethiopia and hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. I am currently studying a Master’s Degree in Dispute Resolution at Independent College Dublin in Ireland.

In 2024, I was honored to receive a fully funded scholarship from the Government of Ireland. This incredible opportunity granted me free tuition and a financial stipend of ten thousand euro to support me during one academic year. I am deeply thankful to the Irish government and people for giving me this life-changing chance. It was the first step toward my dream of becoming a peacebuilder in Ethiopia.

However, as I enter the final stage of my master’s degree, I am now struggling with serious financial difficulties. I have no family members or relatives supporting me financially. I am entirely on my own.

When I arrived in Ireland, I stayed in a host family house for one month and two weeks. That accommodation cost one thousand nine hundred euro and included breakfast and dinner. After that, on October 6, 2024, I moved into a shared student house where I have been paying five hundred euro every month. I also paid a five hundred euro deposit when I moved in.

From the ten thousand euro I received through the scholarship, one thousand nine hundred euro went to the host family accommodation. Five thousand euro has been spent on rent for ten months in the shared house. The five hundred euro deposit was paid at the beginning. The remaining two thousand six hundred euro was used for food, transport, phone bills, and essential study materials.

Even with all this careful budgeting, the cost of living in Dublin has left me in a very difficult position. I often skip breakfast or dinner because I cannot afford daily meals. I have applied for many part-time jobs, since I am allowed to work twenty hours per week, but I have not been able to secure one. The competition is very high and it has been extremely hard as a new international student.

Now, I am facing the reality that I cannot pay my house rent for July, 2025. This pressure is affecting both my mental and physical health. I am currently in the most important stage of my education, where I must write and submit my final dissertation by November 2025. But due to my financial stress, I am struggling to concentrate and make progress.

That is why I am kindly asking for your support.

Your help will allow me to pay for my basic living costs and house rent while I complete my studies. It will give me peace of mind as I continue applying for jobs and trying to support myself. It will also help me buy a plane ticket back to Ethiopia after graduation so that I can return and serve my community with the knowledge and skills I have gained.

Even one euro or one dollar can make a real difference in my life. Your support today will allow me to finish my education with dignity and hope.

My vision is to use my degree in dispute resolution to work in the area of peacebuilding and conflict transformation in Ethiopia. This education is not only for my future but for the future of many people who are suffering from ethnic violence and lack of justice back home.

With your generosity, I can graduate, go home, and work for peace.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story and for standing with me during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Mustefa Bamuda
