I am collecting on behalf of Janith Chamara, a Sri Lankan man whose transport and guide business has been severely affected by the 2019 bombings and more recently the Coronavirus outbreak.
Janith works alongside his father in the tourism industry offering a transport and guide service. For the last few months the family have struggled to get work and the lack of income has made it difficult to make their car repayments. If Janith misses a payment he would not only lose the car, but also his means of income as well as his savings already invested in the car.
I am looking to crowdfund for Janith to support his monthly car repayments so that when tourism in Sri Lanka picks up again he can put his life back together, continue his business and support his family.
I understand that so many others are facing similarly uncertain times but if you can spare some money for Janith it would be so appreciated.
Thank you,
Will
Background
Janith was our driver and guide when we were on holiday in Sri Lanka in late 2018 and we have kept in contact since.
He is in his twenties and lives just to the south of Colombo with his parents and younger brother (see photo).
Working with his father in the tourism industry, Janith’s wages allows his family to live in a basic house and send his younger brother to college.
He is a fantastic, young, ambitious person who is excellent at his job. And if you ever visit Sri Lanka, which you absolutely should, then please get in touch with Janith and he will be pleased to meet you and offer his services.
