Aim: Support CAHN's non-funded Advocacy Service to respond to increased demand and long-waiting list for advocacy support dealing with injustice!

Supporting a client with a non-complex issue costs CAHN £75 per hour.

Every £750 we raise will help in support our clients with via:

  • Up to 10 one-to-on support sessions
  • A choice of client engagement session (face-to-face or online)
  • Language support for those who do not have English as their first language
  • Support with written communication to external organisations (eg Housing, Local Authority, Police, etc.)
  • 1-2-1 support at meetings with agencies and professionals (e.g. social workers, doctors, opticians, job centre)

CAHN’s vision is to eradicate health inequalities and wider disparities for Caribbean & African people within a generation.

All our services/programmes/initiatives support our aim of improved wellbeing and equitable treatment for Caribbean and African people in the UK.

Our mission is to ensure that the strategic and operational actions of service providers across health and cross sector agencies and commissioners, lead to racial and social justice for Black people. As such we are committed to working in an inclusive, creative and responsive manner with communities and organisations irrespective of socio-economic status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, and physical or mental ability.

Our work is conducted within a framework of respect, integrity, openness, transparency and accountability. We offer a range of key services into our communities across England, see link (https://www.cahn.org.uk/project-and-services/), of these our Family  Advocacy and Domestic Violence services are fundamental and key. The learning and intelligence this service provides supports and informs all of our works. The Advocacy Service works to improve the health and wellbeing of the Caribbean and African Community. It is a confidential and safe service for all, independent and sits alongside emotional support from our counselling team. Our specific aim in raising funds in this campaign is to enable an increase in participation and reach of the services offered by our skilled team as the cost of living crisis and seasonal pressures bite. The services empowers our clients via advocacy support and signposts them to appropriate organisations when appropriate.  Our Advocacy Service supports people who do not feel they have a voice or find it difficult to rightly challenge injustice.

The money raised will help us focus our culturally appropriate support to people within our communities dealing with increased uncertainty and challenges around Housing, Benefits and Welfare, Education and of course Social  Care
