ABOUT BOOM LEEDS
Boom is an independent grassroots music venue in Leeds dedicated to the heavy music scene in punk, hardcore & metal. We’ve hosted the likes of Napalm Death, Black Flag, Malevolence, Converge, Gallows and many more. Culturally significant new, old and legendary bands across underground genres perform at Boom regularly. Boom is a much loved venue on the European touring circuit.
Boom provides a stage, rehearsal facilities and a community for new and emerging artists in heavy alternative music. We also provide experience to young event technicians giving them a step into the wider music and touring industry. Artists and staff have gone onto building careers and touring the globe.
WHY ARE WE CROWDFUNDING?
Over the last 7 months we have been transparent with the challenges Boom faces to sustain itself and to continue operating here in Leeds. Unfortunately we just don’t generate enough money to handle catching up with our covid related debts and operating with much increased costs.
At the end of last year Boom was in crisis mode and we rallied support from yourselves, bands and friends to host a series of benefit shows. These shows got us through an incredibly tough time and we can’t thank everyone enough for contributing towards them. The benefit shows have since continued throughout 2024 and there are currently two more planned right now.
We’ve been debating launching a CrowdFunder for some time since we started feeling the hit of the cost of living crisis. We don’t like the idea of asking for just your money. It's a really tough subject, we’ve always wanted to give you something back for your support. That's why we’ve focused on benefit gigs and merchandise.
The amount of messages and comments we’ve received over the last few months asking if people can help support us further via donating has been huge. We know a lot of you can’t always make every show or you're located in a different country. Benefit shows are doing their best to keep the doors open. We’d like to now offer our Crowdfunder link for those who would like to support us.
We posted our vent and frustration from the recent flooding. We face countless challenges from running Boom. The huge financial pressures we’re facing really is taking its toll on the lives of those involved. Huge sacrifices are made to keep the doors open that can’t continue. We believe if we all work together we can keep Boom open. We have a vision for the future of Boom that we really want to make a reality.
Money raised from the CrowdFunder will go towards paying Booms most important bills. Any further funds raised will go towards improving venue facilities and securing Boom's future.
