We're a team of Performing Arts students at the University of Plymouth. We're in our final year of studies. We wanted to showcase our storytelling abilities through taking a well known IP in the public domain and putting our own spin on it.
We fell in love with the world of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Our play is called 'Strigoi', It's runtime currently sits at an hour and thirty minutes. Our play references the events of the original Dracula tale. Strigoi opens with an investigation of the occult and discovery of the supernatural. We've created a rich and unique world set in 1893. Our dialogue, costumes and set design would all adhere to the time period. Providing a transformative and immersive experience for the audience.
We currently are self-financing the project as students, but there's only so much our own finances can help with such a huge undertaking. We require the support of the public to do justice to the vibrancy and beauty of the time period in the play. We'd use the money donated to purchase or rent out costumes, buy makeup and prosthetics, props and finance the marketing of it. Such as printing out leaflets and A1 size posters.
We also plan on filming our play with professional equipment to take the idea ahead as a prospect to different theatres.
