Stow Park Community Centre provides facilities to benefit the public, in order to relieve poverty and any other disadvantage due to youth, old age, ill health, disability, unemployment or social deprivation.
Welcome is at the heart of who we are. We seek to be a community where all can belong, feel valued, find opportunities, grow and flourish.
We are committed to other organisations who serve the community in different ways. We hire inexpensive space to them in our large hall, or smaller rooms to conduct their own meetings in support of local people.
Amongst other projects to alleviate poverty and improve social mobility, we provide a weekly foodbank, community meals, a warm space with hot drinks and snacks, help with budgeting and cooking on a budget. All of this is very much delivered in the context of caring community, with a team who offer one to one support. In the context of these relationships, we signpost, support and empower people to find long term solutions to their need. We work with other agencies to create a support hub around our food-based projects.

Community impact
We are a local community hub, bringing people together from across the community in a safe and welcoming space. People can access information and advice from our staff and volunteers, attend activities run by ourselves and other community organisations, or simple relax and spend time on the company of others.
Our work makes a real difference to the lives of those we help; helping people meet and make new friends; breaking loneliness and isolation, teaching new skills and providing information to help people get the services and help they need and are entitled to. Regular attendance at the centre helps build routines and gives people something to look forward to in the week.

Why are we crowdfunding?
The rising costs of living is affecting us all, for the most vulnerable the impact is more severe forcing impossible decisions between heating and eating. For this reason we have created a warm space within our centre for people to access where they can stay warm, have free food, and enjoy the company of others.
However we are a small community organisation and rising heating and lighting bills is impacting upon our budgets. We are unable to afford to maintain a community warm space without additional funds.
The money will help pay for heat and lighting, plus the provision of warm drinks and food which will be available to those attending.

How we’ll spend the money raised
The money raised will help fund our Warm Space. A dedicated community area where people can come for free to relax, socialise and access informal activities.
Each £50 raised will keep the space open for another day and in doing so provide a warm haven for vulnerable and lonely people in the community
A donation of £25 pays for hot drinks and refreshments for a day for up to 10 people
£4 covers the cost for a hot meal for one person.
