Groundswell Arts is delivering a programme in five Haringey Schools supporting children to learn green screen and animation film-making and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation over the coming two years. Through arts-based learning and hands-on IT the project can be linked to all areas of the curriculum, and support speaking , writing for purpose, collaboration, creativity and problem solving and wellbeing.
We believe that rich and well-resourced creative experiences in schools are what all children in our borough deserve.
The programme enables us to train teachers in the use of iPad apps to support film-making and encourage them to gain new skills to support creative teaching and learning. Each school will run three year group projects per year, a project for families and a series of 1-1 sessions alongside learning support assistants to support learners with SEND.
We initially planned the programme prior to the coronavirus crisis and schools budgets in our borough have been severely impacted in terms of available funds to invest or upgrade in all of the equipment necessary to fully resource the project for maximum impact.
We want to support our five partner Haringey schools to source some additional match fund to purchase new iPads for schools to use across the programme and so as to support the work to become fully embedded by the schools in coming years. Your donation will support these much needed creative experiences being given to children at a time where so much opportunity for creative and cultural engagement has been lost through the pandemic. We really appreciate any help you can offer.
