Who are we?
Holbeach Children's Club is a small volunteer run local charity set up to promote out of school activities for local children. We currently run a Saturday morning Coding Club.
Why are we crowdfunding?
There is an existing court space at the St Laurence Centre, Catford, that was originally envisaged as an area for young people to play sport. This space has fallen into disrepair and is now mainly used as an overflow car park.
This project aims to bring it into regular use as a basketball court. The space will be used for basketball coaching and free play primarily targeting local young people however on offer to the whole community
How we’ll spend the money raised
We already have some funds to clean up the area, paint the court lines and repair the fencing. There will be also be two movable height adjustable hoops purchased. Money raised here is specifically to pay for the purchase and install of one height adjustable in ground basketball hoop for the half size 3 x 3 court.
Community impact
We want local children to feel that they have a safe place to play. We want them to be able to come and play basketball and relax, to meet other children from a variety of schools and backgrounds and to have exposure to a broad range of enriching activities outside of the classroom.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
