Stitching Scotland’s Heritage into the Future – Support us to launch our charity empowering our communities through sewing and outreach

by Jo Watson in Doune, Stirling, United Kingdom

Làmhan is a new charity dedicated to preserving and celebrating Scotland’s rich cultural heritage while empowering communities through hands-on learning and outreach. Our mission is to bring people together to connect with history, craft, and creativity.

Làmhan [pron.  LAAH - vn] is the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘hands’.

We chose this word to recognise the rich cultural heritage of our country and to honour the skills of those have come before us.

We are dedicated to empower folks, from the ages of 6 - 106, through the joy of sewing. And doing so at an affordable price, so cost isn’t a barrier for anyone who wants to learn.

What we are seeking funding for

To bring Lamhan’s vision to life, we need to secure funding to establish an operational base—a dedicated space from which we can coordinate all of the charity’s activities. This base will serve as the heart of our work, providing a hub for outreach programs, sewing classes, and heritage projects. It will be a space where ideas come to life, skills are shared, and communities come together to connect with Scotland’s rich cultural traditions.
