Therese Theurillat and Sarah Lynn Dawson have created a Podcast “Stepping into Shakespeare”, where we explore and discuss with our fellow actors the Shakespeare plays we are reading.
The primary purpose of this podcast is to talk about the experience of reading and learning about Shakespeare. We explore our thoughts and feelings, and it is meant to be a shared experience where the listeners can learn more about Shakespeare's characters and the actor’s approach to it.
Now we are working on our second series of 10 podcast episodes and this time we are reading the play Twelfth Night.
We will recorded the play on Sunday the 28th of May and interviewed the actors.
Even though it is educational it's also a very relaxed podcast, with the aim to break the barrier to English Literature, especially for non-native speakers like myself. Two years ago I was too shy to read Shakespeare because I thought I would need to have the perfect RP English. The aim of the podcast is to give the listeners the feeling that Shakespeare is for everyone and that everybody can enjoy the story and marvel at the complexity of the characters even if they don’t understand every single line and word.
We are supported by the Swiss Cultural Fund in the Uk and our “Night in Illyria” was on Saturday the 27th of May in the Swiss Church at 7.30 pm 79 Endell Street.
