Aim: Raising money for a dedicated War Memorial in Stanley, County and to support the members of the Durham Light Infantry Stanley Branch

I spent 22 years as a soldier serving in The Durham Light Infantry and 1st Battalion Light Infantry. Currently I’m an active member of the Stanley Branch of The Durham Light Infantry.

My hometown of Stanley, in County Durham, does not have a dedicated War Memorial in the town centre. This is something I feel should be rectified and I’m campaigning along with my family, friends and fellow veterans to fund and locate a dedicated Town Centre - War Memorial.

During the first COVID lockdown I started designing my vision for a War Memorial, built many different scale models, played with colours, textures, stone, layouts and looks. My final design is shown above.

I presented my ideas and designs to my Durham Light Infantry Branch and the members are fully supportive of this plan.

Working with the Durham and Stanley Town councils we have raised some funding, but what I want is for this to be a joint effort with and for the people of Stanley. Any money raised will be used towards construction and location costs, ongoing maintenance and to support the Branch members to facility and attend remembrance and celebration events.

Thank you for reading my story and if you are able to donate you’d make an old soldier very happy.
