From the crisis of inequality to the climate and nature emergencies, now more than ever, we need principled politicians in parliament with the bold ideas necessary to tackle the biggest issues facing our country.
In Northamptonshire, we must ensure that every voter has the opportunity to put a cross in a Green Party candidate box. We have candidates ready to stand right across our area, so whether it's Clare Slater in Daventry, Eishar Bassan in Northampton North, Simon Sneddon in Northampton South or Emmie Williamson in South Northamptonshire, it's important we all have that chance to vote Green.
To do this we must raise £500 per constituency for each deposit - if we don't raise our deposits, we risk losing that Green voice.
That's where you come in.
Please help us by chipping in £20, or whatever you can afford, to help us get over the line.
Are you with us?
A note on Short Money
Did you know every vote for the Green Party - your vote - translates into funding to MPs of our party during the next Parliament? Even if you don't live in the areas our MPs are based.
So every donation has a double impact, and it could even have a triple impact:
- Your donation gets a Green candidate for Parliament able to challenge the old parties
- By helping our candidates to stand, your donation enables all the votes they receive to translate into government funding for the Green MPs elected elsewhere
- If our candidates retain their deposits, those funds come back and can be spent by the local Green Party again, so we can keep building strength both locally and nationally
Your Candidates
Clare Slater - Daventry
Clare is committed to fighting for a fairer, greener future. She is a Parish Councillor in Bugbrooke, where she co-established the Environmental Working Group, organising regular litter picks, re-use days and promoting sustainability throughout the village. Clare is also a founding member of Climate Action West Northamptonshire where she writes for the online forum and hosts climate cafes. This will be the second time standing for parliamentary election in Daventry – her husband and two children are right behind her.
Eishar Bassan - Northampton North
Growing up in Northampton with a passion for science, Eishar completed a thesis on the capabilities of 3D printing in offshore wind, won a prize for building a wind turbine, and previously helped construct the world’s largest offshore wind farm, leading the way in renewable energy technologies to combat climate change.
Simon Sneddon - Northampton South
Simon is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Northampton. He has been lecturing in higher education since 2000 and specialises in Environmental Law, Organised Crime, and Wildlife Crime. He is actively researching issues around technology, environmental and social justice.
Emmie Williamson - South Northamptonshire
Emmie was until recently a clinical psychologist working in the NHS. She runs a climate group in her village and works with her parish council on biodiversity projects locally. Emmie also studies and does talks on Climate Psychology.
For more information please see the Northamptonshire Green Party website.
P.S. Because we're a political party we're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
