St Ronan’s Wells Garden is situated at the back of the St Ronan’s Wells Museum.
A view of the garden.
The garden is managed entirely by volunteers. The only financial income we have is through plant sales and this crowdfunding initiative. Our main aims are to :-
- Create a beautiful green space.
- Encourage people to take part in outdoor exercise.
- Improve mental health through supportive collaborative activities.
- Increase biodiversity and wild life habitats.
- Use organic methods of composting and soil management to combat climate change.
- Enhance a cultural landmark in Innerleithen.
- Train horticultural techniques.
- Increase community well being.
- Collaborate with local Arts and Heritage projects.
Volunteers
Our group of around 16 regular volunteers meet regularly on a Thursday. Volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, some newly retired and looking to stay active and healthy through exercise, company and interest, others are off work through long term illness or temporarily unemployed and these people often progress back into work after a period in the garden.
The garden is also supported by Live Borders who are the lease holders and Innerleithen Community Trust who are the umbrella organisation
who manage our finances and provide public liability insurance cover.
