The PTFA for St Mary Redcliffe Primary is a Parent Teacher Friends Association which was established in 2014. Our aim is to provide additional resources, experiences and opportunities for children at SMRP, through fundraising, events and volunteering. We are a group of dedicated parents, carers and teachers who want to make a difference to the school and its pupils. We are passionate about bringing our school community together, creating friendly and inclusive social events and instigating projects that enhance the primary school experience for all our families.
40 adult and child runners will be taking part in the Great Bristol Run in 2025, to fundraise for improved play facilities at the school. Play is crucial for children's health and development. Playgrounds also act as social hubs where children interact, communicate, and collaborate with their peers whilst sparking creativity.
Time spent outdoors, especially in well-designed play environments, has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression in children. Engaging in physical activity and playing outside can improve children's mood, boost their self-esteem, and provide them with a much-needed break from the classroom. It’s important for mental health to have a balanced routine, and access to high-quality play facilities supports this balance.
