We are fundraising so that we can help families in our neighbourhood in north London, which is one of the most deprived in the UK.
Little children benefit greatly from groups that let them play with other children in a different setting. It's also helpful for parents and carers to get out of their homes and socialise with others several times a week. This is an opportunity to make friends, talk through problems and have a change of scene.
St Dominic's parish wants to set up a group for under-5s and their parents or carers, meeting up to three times a week (subject to the funding secured).
The charity we are working with, HNCP, has successfully set up similar groups in other local areas, and has the experience to make our project a success too.
Funding is needed so we can employ staff, as well as providing toys and buying healthy food for the little children who attend.
We would be so grateful for any support you can offer for this new initiative.
St Dominic's parish is a branch of The English Province of the Order of Preachers (reg. charity 231192), and in this project we will be partnering with Highgate Newtown Community Partners.
