Skipton Step Into Action: Supporting Local Lives with Compassion and Connection

Skipton Step Into Action (SSIA) was born in March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, as a community-driven response to support vulnerable individuals. Since then, we’ve grown into a registered charity dedicated to fostering a strong sense of belonging, pride, and well-being in Skipton and South Craven. With the help of our passionate volunteers, we connect individuals through befriending services, transport assistance, and various community projects.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, pride, and well-being in our community. From home visits to creative workshops and group outings, our activities aim to improve both physical and mental well-being while reducing isolation. We empower people of all ages to live fuller, more connected lives.

Achievements

• Supporting Our Community: To date, we’ve helped over 500 individuals in our community, providing practical support, companionship, and connection.
• Transport Services: We proudly purchased a wheelchair-accessible van, affectionately named Jean, which allows us to take people to vital appointments and on special trips, enabling greater independence and mobility.
• Community Support for Children: Our Annual Christmas Elves initiative brings joy to children in need, ensuring they experience the magic of the holidays with gifts and festive cheer.
• Recognitions and Funding: SSIA is a recognised community anchor in North Yorkshire and was awarded £4,000 by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, acknowledging our commitment to enriching lives in the area.
