Hi Supporters of music & Artists!
My name is Daisylydia and i've been an Artist Manager for Icelandic Singer Björk and Art-ivist Bianca Jagger. During the pandemic I started a coaching business called UBUNTU to help musicians get back on their feet.
While working with Björk and Bianca, it was really obvious to me that the Artists i met in these circles all had a warrior-strong mind and spirit. And that most of the Artists i meet in daily life - don’t - and that they need support to become the Artist Warriors they need to be, to pick themselves up from this pandemic.
Martial artist Bruce Lee, says it best:
‘..too much time is given to the development of skill and too little to the development of the individual for participation. Training deals not with an object, but with the human spirit and human emotions. It takes intellect and judgement to handle such delicate qualities as these. It implies discipline of the mind and power and endurance of the body. It is all these things working together in harmony’.
In my coaching i draw from my Artist Manager panoramic, which means i boost an Artist’s industry prowess - that’s their practical knowledge about how to navigate the industry. And from my ‘working-Artist’ panoramic (i used to be an African Marimba Player and Björk’s music editor too), i develop an Artist’s mental and spiritual prowess to help them navigate the inner day-to-day tough realities of being an Artist, which are even harder now.
There is funding for coaching that Artists can apply for, but it's low and very limited, and of course Artists are struggling to pay the rent, let alone pay for coaching that can help their career and earning power. It’s a chicken and the egg situation. So your money will go towards what i call a rainbow pot - a sponsorship fund for potential UBUNTU Artist Warriors who can’t quite pay the coaching fees but who have great potential and need the practical, mental, spiritual - and financial support.
For Christmas i would also like to gift two Artists the opportunity to have 3 months coaching support with me for ‘free’ with your help. For this we need to raise a total of £2880. I’ll be running a competition on Instagram @daisylydia_ubuntu for 3 weeks from 11th - 31st December, and you the pledgers - and you alone - will be casting the votes for the winners. In this way, it's really interactive and rewarding - you get a say in whose lives you're impacting.
UBUNTU means that we are only human through the humanity of others - please help me help our pandemic-weary Artists.
Thank you,
Ubuntu,
Daisylydia
