Sunstore Technologies is an R&D company set up to develop solar solutions for off-grid communities, borne out of witnessing women cook over fire with all its inherent dangers (collecting wood, burns, smoke inhalation) and issues (depletion of trees, carbon emissions, time out of work or education to collect fuel) while above them the sun shone.
We now have a product that allows community feeding stations to provide for villages, schools, health clinics or hospitals.
To accommodate overcast or rainy days, or to cook overnight, the unit has an integrated biochar burner, through which the electricity is generated, making it the world's largest and most efficient hybrid solar thermoelectric appliance.
Currently some prototype models are in operation with the Khoi people of South Africa. We want to provide them with a station housing enough units to feed everyone and to generate power to charge phones and laptops, as well as provide night-time illumination.
Our aim is to spread into other areas across the world. There are 1.5billion people across the world who are off-grid and whom the UN say are not likely to gain access to it during the 21st century, meanwhile 3.5billion continue to cook over an open flame.
All donations will go directly to funding the production and deployment of units to people who need them.
Please consider either an individual £50 donation towards a unit, or a £2000 corporate social responsibility donation to purchase a whole unit with your company logo attached.
