Creating a repertoire of pieces inspired by Trees, the Moon, and Lakes and the Sea. We explore dance, original music, poetry, voice and more

We're still collecting donations

On the 3rd January 2024 we'd raised £80 with 4 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

SpiralArts aims to provide a crucible and supportive space for creative exploration for diverse artists and the interchange between arts. We honour and support individual creativity while at the same time finding ways to unify and establish common denominators.

We are currently a group of professional artists of all ages (80s-20s) combining dance, voice, music, poetry, drama and painting; building a repertoire based on the enchantment of nature.

We work together with movement and dance, a fusion of Western and Eastern disciplines, as well as voice to energise and unify the group. We take our inspiration from nature, often working outside in natural environments, and use the elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water as common denominators and touchstones for creative exploration.

We believe there is no age limit on creativity and boundaries between the arts can be dissolved through shared skills and embodiment.

Enchantment

The ideas for 'Enchantment' began in lockdown. We realised we were missing the magic of nature and keeping creative in such a difficult time. We gathered on zoom, as many of us had to back then, and took ’Trees’ and their relevance to us as our theme. Everyone seemed to have a personal and strong affinity to a particular type of tree which we explored through dance, words, painting and voice.

After lockdown, this  developed into creating a repertoire of pieces inspired by Trees (woodland), the Moon with original music and poetry from the group, and also pieces inspired by Lakes and the Sea.

Fundamentally, our ethos centres greatly around sustainability and the beauty in nature to inspire art. Additionally, we value the intergenerational and diverse aspect to our work and would relish an opportunity to pay each of our artists for the work they tirelessly create with us. We can't do that without your help!

We would like to have the support to continue working together to:

- Develop what we do in bringing awareness to the importance of accessible movement and body awareness to all artists

- To realise arts integration is an art form in itself, exploring creative possibilities while maintaining artistic quality and integrity

- To deepen our connection to the natural world through working directly in nature

- To develop a form of dance ’SpiralDance’ that enhances well being and is accessible, beneficial and creative.

- To continue to develop work for performance

- To open classes and workshops for others to join and benefit from this work
