Aim: We’re raising funds to bring new spin bikes to Meopham Leisure Centre, creating a better fitness experience for our community.
Swale Community Leisure is a Registered Society and a not-for-profit organisation that reinvests a significant portion of its funds into community projects. As a registered charity, Swale Community Leisure (SCL) intends to make a positive impact on the well-being of the people of Kent and the surrounding areas, as well as to its own employees, members and partners. Our strategy is to work towards making a significant contribution to the intended outcomes of key partners in Sport, Leisure, Health, Education and Community.
Meopham Leisure Centre is a small community facility offering activities for all ages and abilities. It features a fully equipped gym, a versatile 4-court sports hall, and two outdoor floodlit tennis courts. The centre also provides a range of workout classes, including spin classes, yoga, Zumba, and HIIT, as well as children's activities like sports courses and holiday camps.
Our existing spin bikes have been in operation for 10 years and are well used and loved by our members. This has led to their quality significantly decreasing and the bikes frequently breaking down, leading to significant repair costs. Due to their age, the required parts becoming increasingly difficult to source as they are being decommissioned. This situation is impacting our ability to provide a consistent and high-quality experience for our members.
Our project to replace spin bikes at Meopham Leisure Centre is eligible for extra funding because it aligns with the criteria set by Sport England. We are dedicated to promoting health and fitness within the community. By upgrading our spin bikes, we can offer better quality equipment, enhance the workout experience, and encourage more people to participate in our fitness programs. This investment will help us continue to provide valuable services that improve the well-being of our community.
We aim to raise £29,400 to purchase new spin bikes, with each bike costing approximately £1,400.
We are looking to raise £7500 through crowdfunding to receive match funding from Sport England of £7500 to raise a total of £15,000. The rest of the target
(above the 15K crowdfunding target) will be achieved via sponsorship, alternative funding sources and through Swale Community Leisure direct contributions.
Our CEO and Partnership Manager are taking on a cycling endurance challenge from Monday 9th - Friday 13th June to raise funds for the spin bikes. Watch out for updates regarding their challenge and funds raised.
By supporting our fundraiser to replace the spin bikes at Meopham Leisure Centre, you are helping to enhance the health and wellness of our community, providing high-quality fitness opportunities for all ages and abilities, and fostering a more active and engaged local community.
