The Great Smiles Project is raising funds for SEND Family Service, who will provide practical and emotional support to families in their home, and work together with other agencies to see positive outcomes for the children and young people.
Due to the impact of children and young people's special educational needs or disabilities, families often have complex issues and barriers arising for them in multiple areas of their lives. Families will often have educational, employment, financial, housing, social, and emotional needs all at once, leading to parental burnout trying to deal with it all.
Our SEND Family Practitioners will have knowledge, experience and expertise in working with children and young people with special educational needs. They will be able to work with families to build their understanding of their child/young person's needs, upskill them in managing their needs, as well as supporting the families with difficulties arising in education, barriers to employment, financial strain, seeking appropriate housing, and supporting them to find social activities that are suitable for their needs and wants.
In order to provide this service we need to raise funds to cover the salaries and travel expenses of our SEND Family Practitioners.
Our team is called 'The Great Smiles Project' because we want to see Staffordshire's children and young people with SEND or mental health needs wearing 'great smiles'.
