Since 2013, we have been creating powerful, joyous performances work with communities from across the UK- ranging from small scale intimate shows to large scale outdoor work with community casts of 250+ people.
Our mission is: to create work that is representative of the communities we serve through authentic collaboration and co-creation: to inspire, build confidence, & empower our audiences and participants: to raise the bar in participatory practice through meaningful processes of engagement: to align heartbeats in shared cultural experiences that dazzle & excite the imagination through spectacle, virtuosity, technology, & storytelling.
In late 2023, we are moving to our own studio space in Sheepfolds, Sunderland, and are looking for support to increase our work with communities- from free regular dance workshops for children, young people and adults of all ages, and all abilities to creating shows in the city we call home.
Any funding raised will enable us to connect with the local community- embedding our studio and charity in the area, by offering free dance, digital and movement classes free to residents of the local area. Sunderland is one of the 20% most deprived districts/unitary authorities in England, across all health indicators (PHE, 2019), with life expectancy 11.5 years lower for men, 8.5 years below for women and 24.8% of children classified as obese compare to the England average. These workshops will enable us to contribute to addressing some of these inequalities.
