South West Iberian Show FUNDRAISER

The South West Iberian show is now heading into it's 8th year! From the outset we set out to showcase the beautiful horses of Spain and Portugal, horses like no other that fill our hearts with passion.  Year on year we have grown, 2019 saw nearly 1000 people on site taking part in daytime events and watching the incredible evening gala under Pro sound and lights by NUB sound.  A horse show like no other, brought to you by an enormous team of professionals and volunteers who work their socks off every year.  

In this extraordinary year, we faced the option of giving up or making something happen. We chose the latter. (Foolishly some might say!). It was a stressful and difficult task for everyone involved, and we extend our love and gratitude to EVERYONE who took part or supported us from afar.  

All day and night events were ticketed and limited.  The daytimes saw incredible world class competitive events with some of the very best Iberians in the UK.   And the evening shows were transformed into an exclusive "En La Ronda" experience. The audiences enjoyed an ever revolving show around them as they watched from their seats INSIDE the arena. The night included tapas by Paquito del Huerto, and fine wine from Shaws Iberian Wines. 

"THE SHOW MUST GO ON" - the theme of the year - this timeless track was due to be the entrance music as the audience were seated, it ended up as the finale, and what a moment it was as many of the evening's performers came back into the arena to join the British Association for Working Equitation squad riders. They had dazzled us all to the show stopping track Barelona by Freddie Mercury with their fairy lit horses and varas. No one can top the ultimate showman Freddie, so the two tracks together were the perfect ending.

The horses were spectacular, the emotions ran high.  We inspired, and uplifted, and brought many to tears.  We never set out to make money, simply to break even. It was a huge risk - ART FOR ARTS sake - in the name of the horse, for love of life itself, and to make an inspirational impact in a year that has been so devastatingly difficult for us all.  Ultimately, it was worth it to see people Friday and Saturday being so affected by such a unique Iberian experience in such a beautifully lit arena with Golegaesque smoke.

BUT, although the socially distanced Saturday night quickly sold out, very sadly, we could have seated another 20 - 30 or so on the Friday, meaning the show is returning a loss in the region of £1,500.  (Tickets were £50 including food, wine and table service as this was the only format that worked under huge restrictions - we weren't for putting on half a show, we believe in doing something properly or not at all. As Yoda says do, or do not).  

We have made some really lovely Iberian items available with the help of friends, sponsors and some lovely local businesses.   We are asking the Iberian community for assistance, and your help would be greatly appreciated, you can be part of getting the show back in the black, and we can start planning for 2021 without carrying a debt forward. If you can't find something you love, then perhaps you might just consider a token donation, but we hope there is something for everyone here.
