South Staffs Sponsored Walk
About the club:
South Staffs Acrobatics is a self funded gymnastics and cheer-leading club which provides classes to children in the local community. The club has been established since 1999 and moved into it own premises in 2007.
Prior to the national lock-downs the club had over 150 members attend the club on a weekly basis, members range from 3 years through to Regional and National champions.
The event:
The club is now raising funds to replace our current heating system with something more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
The club has 36 families taking part in a sponsored walk around their local area aiming to walk the equivalent of a marathon (26.2 miles) during the month of March.
Why we are fundraising:
Due to the coronavirus the club has only managed to open fully for 17 weeks since March 2020, any income generated from class fees or past years fundraising has been used to meet the ongoing expenses of rent, utility bills, coaches expenses and making the club COVID secure.
Every year the club organises 2 major club fundraising events: a Christmas display and club competition solely for the members of South Staffs, we also organise a national acrobatics championships for competitive gymnasts plus various small events such as Easter egg hunts, raffles, coffee mornings etc. Sadly, due to the cornavirus and national lock-down all events for 2020 were cancelled and no events for 2021 oragnised.
Whilst the event has been organised to raise funds for the club it is also important for the children and parents who attend South Staffs to be able to stay connected during this difficult time. Our sponsored event has also been organised to help build the mental and well-being of our members and give everyone something to work towards and achieve the goal of walking a marathon in just 30 days whilst fundraising for the club.
