We are Fundraising for South Brent & District Caring with 'A hilly half-marathon' run by me, Lucy, on Tuesday 14th May 2024. It is aimed at visiting and celebrating the 4 districts covered by South Brent & District Caring.
These are South Brent, Rattery, Diptford and North Huish (including Avonwick) and we will be holding a Coffee Morning in each district on the day so that residents can meet Susanne, our Care Co-ordinator, and a team of our key volunteers, to find about a bit more about the services and support we offer. Not only will it be the furthest that I've ever run, I can assure you that some of the hills are quite a challenge!
I will be winding my way from our office at The Old School Community Centre, South Brent, to visit each Coffee Morning in turn. The route journeys up through Lutton (with a little nod to our sessional worker Sue!), round Brent Hill, through Harbourneford, and on to Rattery Village hall for Coffee Morning number one.
Then from Rattery past Edeswell to Diptford Parish Hall to Coffee Morning number two. Then it's up up up to North Huish and down to Avonwick Tennis Club for Coffee Morning number three, and the final leg is the short, steep climb back to South Brent and to The Old School again.
Come and support us at any of these events on the route, or if you'd like, join me for a leg of the run!
South Brent & District Caring is supported by over a hundred active volunteers, an it helps people to live independent, happy lives in their own homes and as part of the community. All of the fundraising will go into supporting our many weekly groups, the Community Hub and our ongoing services which include befriending, volunteer transport, form filling and admin, shopping, prescription collection and much more.
