On the 29th December 2020 we'd raised £160 with 3 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Sound Store will provide one-to-one and group based music & reminiscence sessions for older adults, including those living with dementia. Sessions will explore music and memories through sound exploration and storytelling, creating recordings to share with family, friends and carers.
During COVID-19 older people have become increasingly isolated from families and friends, which could lead to a decline in their mental health and wellbeing. We developed the idea for Sound Store in collaboration with our musicians and care home managers and families. Staff are excited about what this project will mean to their residents. We can support them through these difficult times through our online music sessions, giving them a positive focus, joyful experience and connection that they long for and need.
We have secured £9,640 from the National Lottery Community Fund towards this project. Your contribution through our crowdfunder will enable us to purchase tech and musical instruments to ensure that we can support older people through these difficult times, through online music sessions, whilst face-to-face delivery isn’t possible. This would bring our Sound Store project to life and enable Evolve Music to build on this to deepen our support for older people in Care Homes in Somerset.
