SOMERSET COUNTY FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Somerset Federation of Womans Institute based in Bridgwater a county of such diverse contrasts as The Levels, Wetlands, 5 ranges of hills, a dramatic coastline, being the home of Arthur's Wessex with mystic Glastonbury and Wells - the smallest city in England.

We have recently moved to our new headquarters in Bridgwater. This is the administrative centre for the Board of Trustees, the Sub-Committees, WI Advisors and our office staff - With approximately 3000 members and 115 Institutes we are one of the larger federations, combining the best of the past with the knowledge of the present, whilst looking for  innovative bright ideas of the future.

We are wanting to invite members to use the facilities, for : Warm cafes,  training courses, meeting other members and holding social events,we dont want any of our member to be stuck home alone or in light of energy prices rising home alone cold.  we need to carry out maintenance and update some areas for example  the ground behind our new property (formerly a garden) is unsuitable for vehicle access as  over the past months due to the high rainfall in the area the ground has become boggy garden soil, with swampy damp soil conditions it is difficult to move across  making it impossible to create a carpark without involving contractors and outlay well over £30,000   The Federation has £13,000 to put towards the fund and to fund the other part we are reaching out to all WI members their families and friends and businesses to ask for  support in raising funds to create a carpark suitable for members and new members as, as life becomes ever more hectic the WI, with its traditional values but modern outlook, is appealing to more and more 'Inspiring Women whatever their interests we can offer women something in the Somerset Federation of WI's even if its our freinship and warmth.

 We are all about educating and inspiring women of all ages we run regular events and we want to continue to support our members for many years to come, creating this carpark will enable us to do this inmany ways and will enhance the membership in so many ways.  If you can donate even as little as £5 please do.....
