Aim: Help bring my dance performance to Dance Base at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025!!
🎭 Help Us Bring Our Show to Edinburgh Fringe!
We’re raising funds to pay our performers fairly during our upcoming 8-show run at a prestigious venue at the Edinburgh Fringe — and we need your help to make it happen.
🎬 What’s the Project?
Dynamic dancing, physical storytelling permeated by a morphing veneer of darkness and comedy.
Three protagonists slowly set the stage in this evocative performance by Scottish dance artist Malcolm Sutherland. Bodies and characters collapse, separate and reform in a constant search for meaning, attachment and understanding.
Solitude without Loneliness invites empathy through the cyclical endurance of the performers, reminding us of the universal desire for union with one another and with ourselves.
This is a work made with care, depth, and craft — and we’re now at a crucial turning point.
🚀 Where We’re At
This project has been years in the making, beginning in 2019 and evolving through the immense challenges of the pandemic. We’ve already presented two performances, and we’ve now secured a rare opportunity to showcase the work at one of the most respected venues on the Fringe.
We have:
The infrastructure and venue secured
A committed, experienced team ready to go
A show that’s ready to perform
All we need now is the final push — to ensure our artists are paid fairly.
💥 Why This Matters
In a cultural landscape where funding is harder than ever to access, ensuring artists are properly paid is both urgent and essential. The money raised will go directly to paying performance fees for the artists — honouring their time, training, and talent.
We’re proud to be partnering with a venue that supports some of the costs — which means every pound you donate goes straight to the people on stage making this work possible.
🎯 What’s the Impact?
For audiences: A unique, high-quality artistic experience at the Fringe.
For the artists: A chance to present their work to national and international audiences, promoters, and programmers.
For me as a creator: A key step toward scaling this project into future national tours and international commissions.
🌍 Why the Fringe?
Edinburgh Fringe offers unmatched visibility. With thousands of industry professionals attending, this run is a powerful chance to position the work in front of key programmers, critics, and future collaborators. This is about growing the life of the work — not just at the Fringe, but beyond.
🛠️ What Will the Money Be Used For?
In the challenging landscape of the Fringe, it remains essential that artists are paid fairly for their time and craft. Therefore, 100% of the funds raised will go directly towards paying performance fees for the artists involved in the show.
Every contribution helps protect and value artistic labour at one of the most competitive arts festivals in the world.
