Hello! We are Team Social People, a UAL Film and Television Grad Project, needing help to fund the pilot of our sitcom.
'At EverBlue water company, life is anything but smooth sailing. “Social People” documents the wacky day to day of the neglected social media team locked away, trying to make waves, one post at a time'
What makes this sitcom special is our characters. Each don't want to be in that job, but they are stuck and make the best of it:
Jacob - a man in his mid twenties, moderately attractive. Has a contempt beyond his years for modern liberal values. (he can't understand why more women don't fancy him)
Lily - a woman also in her mid twenties, slightly more attractive than Jacob but doesn't know it. She's nice and she's motivated. But mostly she's just nice.
Mags - a woman in her 50s-60s. Does not want to be in social media marketing, used to be in traditional marketing but now is only chasing her pension.
Nodge - Almost other worldly, is not bound to earthly emotions. In a constant state of bemusement.
Richard Harding - Head of marketing at EverBlue. Hugely invested in his job and not at all in social media or anyone associated.
Pilot Synopsis
During the pilot Lily is attempting to convince their boss to do a TikTok trend. The team try various manipulation strategies put forward by Jacobs book of power. The Boss again kindly tells them to get lost before Jacob shows a spark of humanity and convinces the boss that Lily‘s idea is worth doing. Jacob, for a change, shows lilly some respect before returning to his incel mindset. Normalcy is restored.
We’re thrilled to have the support of UAL, who’ve given us a generous £1000 to get started. But to bring "Social People" to life, we’re looking to raise an additional £2000 through crowdfunding. Every pound you contribute helps us make the best pilot possible.
Budget Breakdown
Thanks to UAL's facilities, we already have essential camera and lighting equipment covered. Here's where your contributions will go:
- Production Design (21.1%): Creating a believable (and hilariously sad) social media office.
Catering (21.1%): Keeping our hardworking cast and crew fueled and ready for action.
Travel Expenses (21.1%): Ensuring everyone can get to and from set efficiently.
Location Costs (15.8%): The perfect space to lock the team away from the rest of the "real" office.
Marketing and Distribution (10.5%): Helping us share the pilot with a wider audience.
On-Set Expenses (10.5%): Covering day-to-day essentials for the production team.
With your help, we can turn "Social People" from a dream into a reality. Every contribution, big or small, helps us create something truly special. So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re trapped at work with nowhere to go but up (or sideways), this show’s for you.
The Team Behind Social People
What makes our crew special is that we’re more than just collaborators — we’re mates. All of us are film students with a shared passion for creating something truly special, and we’ve worked together in various capacities before.
Our Director, Ezra, Cinematographer, Archie, and 1st Assistant Director, Nea-Jude, spent a year living together under one roof in Peckham, where creativity and camaraderie thrived. The year before that, our Producer Freddy also lived in the same apartment building as Nea-Jude.
Our Production Designer, Katie, previously produced Nea-Jude’s screenplay Pandora, which recently won Best Picture at the Northeastern Television Film Festival — a testament to the talent and dedication within our team.
Adding to our shared history, Archie, Alex, Freddy, and Ezra all worked on Jon’s previous script, Fates Script, proving that this team isn’t just a one-off partnership.
What we’re trying to say is this: we’re not a random group of strangers thrown together for a project. We’re a team who genuinely enjoy working together, who share a vision, and who have a great time doing it. That energy, collaboration, and fun is what we want to bring to the screen with Social People. You’re not just supporting a project — you’re supporting a group of friends determined to create something unforgettable.
