General Election 2017 – Voting: Why Bother?
We did it
On 31st May 2017 we successfully raised £1,370 with 58 supporters in 28 days

To get the youth of Britain (18-24) to register to vote for the snap general election. And then actually, to vote.

 New stretch target

Thanks for all the contributions, you're all amazing! We've smashed our target!

The more we can raise, the more we have to spend in social media to reach more people.

In the last general election, 70% of 18-24 year-olds registered to vote. But only 44% of them actually voted! This is in comparison to 76% of 65+ year olds.

In the EU Referendum, the turnout of young voters was also staggeringly low, and hugely outnumbered by the older generation. Had the youth turnout been higher, the result might have been flipped.

This time, we want things to be different.

The future belongs to the youth, and we want them to start shaping it.

At the moment they have the smallest voice, but we believe they have the potential to have the largest.

We want them to see voting as an opportunity.

We want them to understand that politics is culture. Culture is politics. And culture is people.

We want them to judge parties by their policies, not their populism.

We’re living in uncertain times and we want them to feel part of the solution.

How are we doing it?

We're launching a campaign to encourage 18-24 year olds to register and then turn out and vote, whilst directing them to useful resources to help them do so.

The campaign will be driven by 2 powerful videos – a ‘Go Register’ message, followed by a ‘Go Vote’ message. We want it to be made up of young people encouraging other young people – peer to peer.

We'll be asking young people 'Voting: Why Bother?' And hope we inspire others to ask themselves the same, and ultimately, to bother.

We will remain party neutral in our execution – it’s all about making sure young people are informed and impassioned to vote. We believe that a greater number of young voters will mean a better decision for everyone’s future.

Where do you come in?

We need your help to make sure the right people see it. To do this we need some money to promote our content in social media, through paid advertising.

We will be updating this page with our campaign video very soon. But in the meantime, we hope you can help us raise the money we need to get this message out there!

Thank you in advance!
