We're still collecting donations

On the 27th July 2021 we'd raised £115 with 5 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Smurf's Pony Project was set up in loving memory of the most inspirational little therapy pony to ensure we could continue to spread happiness in Smurf's name.

Smurf was a rescue pony (found by police on the side of a motorway) who lived for 30 years and overcame the challenge of losing both of his eyes to tumours.  He visited hospices, carehomes and schools to teach children about animal welfare, disability and resilience or assisting with 'pit pony' reminiscence activities for those living with dementia (especially former miners).

He won national awards for his therapy work and was loved by everyone who met him.  When he passed away, during lockdown last year, the BBC paid tribute to him on local TV and radio.

Smurf raised lots of money for charities over the years and often attended events to raise awareness of worthy causes.

This project will enable his 'brothers' Marley and Tom to continue his work in any way they can and will also call upon many of Smurf's friends (human and animal) to help us support good causes or simply reach out to those who need somewhere safe and welcoming to come and socialise in the fresh air, regardless of age or background.
